Watching Mao Inoue in Rebirth will make you appreciate how much she has grown as an actress. As a result of her moving performance, the Japanese Academy Prize’s Best Actress was awarded to her. While many of Mao’s fans started following her after Hana Yori Dango (Boys over Flowers) and her much-adored team up with Jun Matsumoto, there are fans who believed she should be recognized more for her team-up with Masaki Okada.
This is quite apparent after the huge success of their movie, I Give My First Love to You. Aside from the realistic portrayal of both Inoue and Okada as ill-fated lovers, many viewers (included this author) think they are an awesome love team!
After 4 long years, we are now about to watch them once again on the big screen – this time – it will be a comedy together with Sadao Abe for The King of Apologies.
The Japanese are known for their elaborate ways of apologizing, and in this movie we are not making fun of it, but instead pays tribute to how we – the Japanese people – use apology to show respect. Our ‘culture of apology’ is unique in our country. says the actress.
Inoue is also paired with Gou Ayano for another high-profile film entitled The Snow White Murder Case (Shiro Yuki Hime Satsujin Jiken) scheduled for a 2014 release.
She is also part of the star-studded cast for Eternal ero (Eien no Zero) with Junichi Okada and Haruma Miura.
